Jamal Bryant’s Message to Jennifer Hudson

I haven’t written anything thus far about the Jennifer Hudson tragedies in where three key family members were lost.  I believe that some circumstances and certain situations are better approached through silent prayer.  However, I heard a preached sermon that I found to be a little disturbing. Okay not a little, very…

Jamal Bryant’s Message to Jennifer Hudson

Pastor Jamal Bryant preached a sermon entitled “A Message to Jennifer Hudson”.  The message brought in a lot of amens from the congregation but not from me.  It was a shout to Jennifer Hudson letting her know that what she is going thru is nothing new.  This can be referenced by the Ecclesiastes 1:9 scripture.  Pastor Bryant went on to say “Why Not You” and how “Why Not You” was not a question when she won an Oscar.   I can’t speak for Jennifer Hudson, but this is the same type message I dismiss as inconsiderate while changing the channel.

When Lazurus died, Jesus wept with the family members and then brought forth life.

Here I go, onto voice my opinion whilst using the “Jamal Bryant’s Message to Jennifer Hudson” as an example.  Preachers in these days are bold, and maybe too bold.  If she said, “I am Jennifer Hudson and I approve this message”, then this would be okay.  But if not…

What gives the right?

Jamal Bryant is quoted as “…one of the Nations most intriguing Christian figures.” at jamalbryant.org.   I respect him as minister and man of God.  But what can I say, this is Ms. Latina Renee at MyDiffers.com wishing Jennifer Hudson all the love in the world!

  1. Whenever you have a point to make about another, especially the “MEN & WOMEN” of GOD, we should be studied as well. For example, being critical is not giving a sound rebuttle. When Jesus wept, it was because of the “UNBELIEF” of those around him. The people around, especially his sisters, their cry and plea was…”LORD, SURELY HE STINKS BY NOW”…

  2. ITS NOT RIGHT IF YOU ASK ME. MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD DO THIS ALL THE TIME. MANY TIMES THEY’RE NOT HEARING FROM GOD AT ALL, SO THEY CAN USE A TRAGADY AND PREACH THIS COLD SERMON TO A CONGRAGATION THAT MAY NOT KNOW THE LORD FOR THEMSELVES AND HAVE THEM JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE. HE SHOULDN’T HAVE PREACH ABOUT IT AS THOUGH IT WASN’T THAT IMPORTANT. HE WAS LIKE IT, OH IT HAPPENS. THATS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD DON’T DERSIRE TO COME IN THE HOUSE OF GOD, BECAUSE OF PREACHERS LIKE BRYANT.

  3. WOW!! I wish it were possible to hear the entire message. It is just like us to take a one liner and run with it without knowing the context of the entire statement… Yes there are times when those who are called by God and those that claim to be, make controversial statements. No we don’t always agree with what they’re saying. But often times we are not listening to the entire message or it is convicting and not what we want to hear, “JUST ASK JESUS!!!!!” He died for making claims and statements and raising questions that made the people of His day very uncomfortable. But there are people saved and unsaved who needed to hear what Pastor Bryant had to say. For the parts of the sermon YOU don’t understand or like YOU discard. Because in the world we live in this does happen and if it were not Jennifer Hudson we wouldn’t even be talking about it. If it would have been the family of Jennifer Jones in the inner city housing projects, we would be asking the question “WHERE WAS THE MOMA?” However controversial we may feel it is, “It is truth to someone.”

Yep, its important to look at the message as a whole.

The entire message as a whole was entitled “A Message to Jennifer Hudson” and based on just that. It wasn’t just a one liner.

  5. :-) Ms, YOU have truly proved my point!!!!
